Thanks for sharing your story. I've never experienced that kind of insecurity, just shyness over what people might think when they saw me wet. This got worse as I got later into my teens. A 12-year-old might be smiled at, but a 17-year-old was somehow expected to have outgrown that behavior, at least in my mind. I realize now that most people don't care.
Did you have more wet clothes experiences in those ponds or streams? Getting wet in natural bodies of water seems to draw less attention than clothed swimming in pools.
Did your family ever catch you swimming clothed in your pool? How did they react? Did you ever get to the point where you could do it freely in front of them?
Did Gabe share your interest in wet clothes, or at least participate sometimes with you?
